McGuire Middle School is proud to announce that it has been selected as the first school in Minnesota to earn AVID National Demonstration status!
McGuire held an AVID Validation Day on Tuesday March 3, 2015. An AVID validation day validates a specific school that has implemented AVID strategies school wide. The process takes approximately five years (from implementation to validation). If a school is "validated," they are awarded/designated as an AVID National Demonstration School. This is the highest honor a school can receive! The process to become a National Demonstration School is quite rigorous and takes a great deal of time.
Dr. Joshua Alexander, McGuire Middle School principal, is excited about what this means for both the school and the district. "The award is a celebration of all the hard work, effort, and time that McGuire faculty, staff, and students have put in over the past seven years to fully implement AVID strategies that support student-learning in the classroom," says Alexander. "This sets us apart from other schools as it validates our classroom rigor, focus on success for all students, full implementation of school wide teaching strategies, and a college going-career ready culture."
